Where can I find out about what programs are available... ?

The agency operates two major housing programs:

Public Housing consists of 369 Units of family and elderly housing located throughout the city of Lawrence that are operated and managed by the LDCHA.  Locations include: Babcock Place, 1700 Massachusetts, Peterson Acres, 2930 Peterson Road, Edgewood Homes, 1600 Haskell, and 94 single family units scattered throughout the community.

Rent Assistance Program includes $2.9 million in rent subsidies paid to private landlords on behalf of eligible families and individuals throughout Lawrence and Douglas County.  Within this program are several programs for special need categories including: mainstreaming persons with disabilities, transitional housing, and family unification.

Transitional Housing – HOME funded voucher program that requires the applicant to be homeless at time of application and to enter into an agreement for support services as a condition of housing assistance.

Family Unification – Section 8 funded voucher program designated for families at risk of loosing their children or who are awaiting reunification with their children, in which HOUSING is the significant barrier in unification
